Microsoft office substitue...

hello, i am looking for another application that can read and edit .doc files..

MS office is wayyy too expensive and since i rarely use it i dont think its worth buying it... So anyone can recommend me a free software for reading and editing documents that would be great....

Hopefully ones without so much junk...

LibreOffice is awesome: http://www.libreoffice.org

If you know what OpenOffice is then this is much better than that. It works with all or most of the MSO file formats as well.

Libre Office, Open Office, Microsoft Works if it comes with your PC (My Old MS Works Disk did actually have Word on it. Umm...you could also try...Google Docs?
