Microsoft Outlook - Out of office alternative?

Hello,

Currently i wish to set up Outlook to reply to emails automacitcally. Outlook has a feature of course which does this, BUT it only works if you have Microsoft Exchange (Which I don't).

Another alternative (Which I'm using at the moment) Is to have a rule to running that sends a reply back. However this requires Outlook and my machines on.

Is there perhaps some third party software which will enable me to have outlook shutdown but still send Out of Office replies.

I use a Linux Web server btw :) (Redhat)
 
oh, now i under stand, sorry not sure, i had something then it would be for windows, not linux, sorry.
