It looks like the steps microsoft is taking to prevent software piracy is going to limit the computer enthusiasts ability to upgrade and rebuild computers.

From my understanding hardware will be liscensed and Vista will only allow so many pieces to be changed or altered. I guess they want people to buy a new copy of windows everytime they go out and upgrade there computer or build a new one minus a few parts.

I read through this quickly and just wanted to hear some thoughts and opinions. I don't understand how one of the most profitable software companies on the planet can be so thoughtless when it comes to there customers. Oh well I guess the computer enthusiast isn't the main consumer for mircosoft. The average everyday user is.

I really wish there were more choices for OS's. Well...you know what I mean.

I dunno....the articles were confusing for me. I wasn't sure whether they meant that you can only upgrade your hardware once, or if you can only pull the HDD out of your system and use it as a primary in your new computer once.
 
The way I read it you can change your hardware but only so many times then you have to get a new license. If you take the O/S and put it on another computer you can only do that 1 time. If you are like most gamers and change out your hardware a lot for new games it could get expensive for you.
 
From what I understand, Microsoft will allow you to unregister Vista from one computer, and transfer it to another only once.

Realistically, you only get a new computer every year or 2, so you shouldnt need to transfer the software that often. =/

Doesnt seem that bad to me.

But yea, for normal people it doesn't matter, but for people who build computers often/upgrade parts, it is going to be a pain in the ass.
 
So if thats true, then i'll have to buy Vista about 20 times during the year :P

Luckily i'm a member of MSDN however, so I get it for free :D
