Microsoft Update

What a joke...
I've bulked up six updates now that won't install, all due to an error that defines itself as 0x8007F0EA.
This has been going on since I reformatted my computer...and I just need help,
It only shows 5 updates in Automatic Updates, and there's one under Optional Software Updates...here's the 5 it shows.
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1
2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 1 (SP1)
Security Update for Windows XP with Windows Media Format Runtime 9.5 and 11 (KB941569)
Security Update for CAPICOM (KB931906)
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Service Pack 2 (KB 921896)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, because I have tried everything I can and it flat out refuses to help.

This was stolen from another web site. Hope it helps.

"This is the solution that worked for me. I used information posted in 2
different topics for this problem.

This was one - But I had to change a couple things. I listed step-by-step
instructions below.
"All you need to do is go into your windows\system32 folder and find the file
xpsp3res.dll file and add a .bak at the end of it. Now try running windows
update and it should update fine and add a new xpsp3res.dll file to your
windows\system32 folder."

Follow this exactly and it should get you up and going. - Execute this in
order.
1.) do as listed above - Go to the windows\system32 folder and find the file
xpsp3res.dll file and add a .bak at the end of it. (don't re-run anything yet)
2.) Go to Control Panel, Add\Remove programs and click on "Show Updates"
3.) Uninstall KB896344
4.) Restart the computer
5.) Go to Contol Panel and run "Windows Update"
6.) Two items to load will show up. KB896344 again and KB890046
7.) Only Select KB896344 and install it - It worked for me.
8.) Restart the computer again
9.) Go to Contol Panel and run "Windows Update" again
10.) Now let it install KB890046 (This adds back in the xpsp3res.dll file)
11.) Restart the computer again.

Now you should have both installed and everything working AOK. That is what
it took for me to get things going. Hope it helps you out.

So, in summary, it would seem the "xpsp3res.dll file" is what causes
KB896344 to not load correctly. Good luck!!"

the name indicates Windows XP Service Pack 3 Resource DLL?
that sounds strange...a bugfix pack causes more problems than it solves?
sounds an awful lot like Windows Vista.

KB 896344 isn't there...
why?

Sorry for the double post but i had to post a more detailed update...
The KB 896344 Hotfix Update isn't there...
I'm using a Gateway/eMachines OEM version of Windows XP
All the hardware is good...
there is no reason really for it to be doing this and I don't interrupt the updating process...it just doesn't work.
and now I have 8 updates waiting that refuse to install...
I'm not a happy person right now.

did you reformat or did you do a repair/in place upgrade ?

if you do a repair or in place upgrade, it causes massive problems with regards to windows update. Only time i fixed this before was to use
"dialafix".

i used dialafix and now i only have one problem...
Security Update for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 (KB948109)
outright refuses to install.

like i said
it outright refuses to run.
it downloads fine.
it just won't run...
Error Code 0x737D
