Microsoft Windows Vista Beta 1

i was able to get Windows Vista Beta 1 because im a MSDN subscriber. the file is approx 2.4 GB.. and i have not tried to install or burn it onto DVD yet..

heres the case..
i want to be able to burn windows vista onto CDR.. is that possible? where everyhing works.. autorun.. etc.. the reason is because i want to try it on my older pc which does not have a DVD drive. so its not able to read it if i burn it onto a DVD. or is there a program that can make DVD discs CDR readable? meaning.. making the DVD readable by just a regular cd rom on boot up for installation.

any ideas or inputs from anyone who have installed vista already?

well, if not.. im thikning of splitting the file with winrar into like 3-4 seperate files and burning it onto cdr and then repackage it on the old pc and running it from the harddrive instead of from bootup. the thing is i dont know if that will work if it does installs and after the reboot.

or anyone know if i can compress the whole folder into one cdr?

any ideaS? thanks.

cd's and dvd's are read on different lenses so a program to read dvd's on a cd drive is unlikely.
the easiest thing to do would be to take the dvd drive out of your current computer and put it in the old computer.

1. u will not be able to install Vista from Hard disk, I assume u will need to boot up the system with the Vista Cd.

2. The best option is to take the DVD drive n connct it to ur older system.

how did u get teh beta
Hes an MSDN subscirber, he already sed that, MSDN stands for Microsoft Developers Network. not that he is technically a developetr but if you subscribe then you get all the latest BETA's, like me!!!!!

yup.. got it working now.. but i honestly dont think its worth it (the beta). since its still in beta.. it requires some pretty nifty requirements.. i'd opt to wait for beta 2 or the final release..

Are you saying the past "final" versions of Windows have been bug free?

We got the vista beta 1 running at my friends shop on a media pc.. It's okay, A little different but just the normal windows OS upgrade...a new GUI....lol

plus, most programs are not running on vista as i have tried many programs that runs flawlessly on xp.. i'll wait for beta 2 release n see how it goes
