Long story short, I was writing a report when the power went. Typical. I hadnt saved my work and lost over half the report. Im sure though I seen it doing an auto recovery save a while ago. Where can I find this document if auto recovery did save it? It didnt appear when I reopened word. My computer is Windows XP and Im using Word 2010. I really need help, can it be got back?

It's called auto save not auto recovery, and it the option was setup then it would auto save the document you were working on every few minutes or whatever time period you set. If it had auto saved then when you opened ip your document some of it would still be there. As it looks now auto save wasn't turned on at the time.

But like I said I did see it doing an Autosave before lost everything

Look here

C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\

The "xxx" is your user name. This is the save location for my Auto save function.

i remember this happening to me. when the computer booted up, i opened word and it asked me if i wanted to retrieve the file.
i didn't have to set it or anything.
also, try looking under recent documents within word.
