When a pirate is made microsoft just lose a sale of Windows XP, its like 30% of world population dont buy XP, they have pirated, thats 30% of the population, who wont give him the money for the os, and how much is XP pro £120

so he might be loosing out big time (217709390.83333333333)

that was from a population clock http://www.census.gov/main/www/popclock.html.

it all adds up, but a single os wouldn't make a difference, what i can suggest is to remove the update KB905474 and youll be back to standard xp if not system restore until before service packs were installed

That doesn't matter. I know if I paid for it, I want all my updates, and I want the ability to run genuine Windows. Period.

If everyone on the planet owned their own computer, wand was windows based. You are saying that 30% of the world population, when it is 30% of the PC owners out there runnning MS as an OS.

i know its ilegal but i have aquired the patchs to solve this problem...

i cannot download new programs ,EG "windows media player 11" direct off microsoft but there are websites out there that have this sort of software "non verifercation" needed-

the patch allows you to get all microsoft upgrades ,EG sp1 sp2 etc on "automatic upgrade", it also illiminates the pop up on booting up xp where it tells you its an ilegal copy!!

lets make this clear though========\/

i did not make the software and i dont belive in counterfit goods, i downloaded xp of a p2p site as a makeshift os-this was basicly a solution until i found my original xp pro disk which was missplaced

i had the same problem with a second hand pc i bought off my sister i reformatted it and registered it in my name, it come up with something-cant remember-think it was sumit to do with the copy not being registered in my name previously... so i just rung up microsoft (for first time) and told them my situation and they gave me new code.... no funny questions asked

they arnt that bad to talk to on phone, at the end of the day you aint talkin to bill himself so you shouldnt think twice bout givin them a ring, if bill picks up just hang up

You should know that selling software to circumvent copyright protective measures is HIGHLY illegal.

Seriously you don't want to mess with any crap like that. Especially with a company like microsoft, so I hope you are messing.

sc7 you highlighted a part of what i said but you did not highlight the fact that i said i did not belive in counterfit goods and it was a joke-man as if i would sell it, it would make me a theif!

i have now edited and removed the offending sentence incase other people get the wrong idea!!!!

i used the software for like a week or sumit, but its there, there is always some one out there who has ways to get round things...

i am running an original copy of home addition until vista comes out

I see no point to running Xp Pro. Unless you need more networking features, it's useless. I use home. Vista, I'll probably get ultimate so I can get all the gadgets that come with it, so long as it's $500 or less.

I run pro, I just prefer it over home, I used to rune media center for a little bit but then switched comps.

Honestly, can I ask why you prefer pro? I use home starts up faster because of some network settings that are disabled. The only advantage is that pro will be supported to 2011, home will loose support in 2008.

I just like it better, you have more control over settings, not really any restrictions, and I use pro and work so its nice to have it at home too. Its only and extra like $30 if you go oem.

This is true. The only setting in pro I wish I had in home was the access to EFS. This has since gone away since my discovery of Truecrypt

Thank you very much for that informative statement, with much evidence and maturity. Microsoft has done a tremendous job thusfar, and have pushed technology far forward. Without them, much of what we have now wouldn't exist.

Without Windows, linux wouldn't even be close to where it is today, and even linux developers will tell you that. Companies such as Apple and Microsoft copy bits and pieces of eachother all the time, it's called competition.

So please, don't make stupid statements like that, unless you can back it up (without screaming and namecalling, or "its just better") Use real facts to back up your OPINION next time.

ok, keep it to yourself, because quite honestly computers wouldn't be where they are if it wasn't for windows. This has nothing to do with this thread so only post helpful info please.

Quick question regarding windows legality:
On my current computer i activated windows xp home.
When putting the copmuter together i couldn't get the RAID array set up right, so I was forced to load windows onto ONE hard drive.
Now, I slipstreamed the RAID drivers onto my custom Windows boot disk, and I would like to try it out, but I'm afraid that I won't be able to run windows again without buying a new copy,
So, would it still let me use windows even though I'll be setting it up under a RAID array?

Ya, you may need a new cd key for activation reasons, but you can get one by calling microsoft. Since you are installing it on a singe computer, all you should have to do is reformat the drives and reload windows on.

From what I read, RAID technically violates the EULA. However, I do know Microsoft allows you to use it anyway, and you can do it. If you have activation problems, just call up Microsoft.

That would be retarded if you couldn't yes its on 2 harddrives but its still on one comp, running one copy at the same time.
