I want to do a clean install and completely wipe the version of XP I have now off my HD, will the "Windows Vista for System builders" allow me to do this. I cannot find much info on this, what versions have you guys been using?

DO you recommend Basic,Premium or Ultimate or w/e?

If you're referring to the Vista sold on Newegg, then yes, it can be used to do a clean install.

Do not download the transformation pack for Vista. My computer was ready to do anything in 8 seconds with regular XP. Then I installed the transformation pack and it was like 96 seconds until ready. Even though it is free, it still sucks, since the transformation pack is so slow that really turns me off toward the real Vista.

I tried the VTP before reading this and I agree it's slow. I was able to uninstall and restore my system without any problems though.

You never want to do an upgrade version of an OS in my opinion, it always is slower than the full version since you're basically loading two OSs. As for what version, Home Premium would have everything I would need/want but some of the remote desktop and bitlocker features of Ultimate would be nice if I had the money...

Why do people think they want or need Vista, what does it do that XP can't beside the Aero theme... You can make XP look like Vista so easily!

I've heard there's a few bugs too, If I was you I'd wait till they bring out a service pack...
