might get one of these

A SSD? You have too much money on your hands Kof!

Seriously though those SSD's are tons better than Hdd's.. You were defending the raptors earlier right? Well these kick those raptors square in the ass.

Do it man! :D

"This brilliant development in drive technology brings up to 53MB/s reading speed and up to 28MB/s writing speed?"

I'm sorry, but the hard drive in this $300 dell computer i'm using at work right now is faster than that. 77.3MB/s, in fact.

in benchmarks a computer with 256mb ram boots ssd drive into windows faster than the raptor though it still cant beat raptor in ALL benchmarks raptors are still the way to go considering the performance to price ratio...

anyways i dont think vista is going to fit on a 8gb ssd :) need 16 or 32gb.

i'd take a SAS controller and a handful of drives over a raptor anyday

i think you can daisychain and RAID somewhere in the vicinity of 260 hard drives with a SAS controller

Solid state is definitely the future I agree with that, and its rapidly growing larger in capacity and cheaper to make.

However, I think it will be better to wait for EFI technology to come out. MS was suppose to release vista with full on EFI support but said they had to drop it and were going to release it as a service pack or update later on. All the apple computers already use EFI and every major computer company is backing it.

They are already discussing motherboards that will have 40 gigs of solid state built into them for the OS and users will just use HD's for pure storage and application usage. Boot times will be near instant.
