might upgrade need a little help

Hey guys, I might be looking into upgrading a few things. I'm into gaming but, I'm not really to hardcore. I'm looking to have a system that can take anything I throw at it. I have not really kept up with stuff lately so I'm not really sure if my stuff is up to date. It does everything I need it to do. I just want to be about to play a recent game if I feel like "hey I want this game for pc" and run it with no problem. My specs are in my sig. I know I need a gfx card bad and Ive heard that pci-e 2.0 would work just fine but im not sure what I'm looking for. I would want to upgrade to a tri or quad core but I don't want to have to replace the mobo. I know its not the greatest thing in the world but, I like it. Ive heard that you can run AM3 cpus in an AM2+ socket, is that true? My board only supports 95W cpus. If you could give suggestions on any way to max out the board (GPU, RAM, ECT.) that I have so ill be about to play the latest games would be awesome.

I heard form people that my current cpu not going to cut it anymore and I want to know your thoughts on it and how far I could go when it comes to gaming using this cpu.

If you could please give me your thoughts it would be great.

Your board with the latest Bios update can run any of the Phenom II AM3 processors up to 95W models. I would get the 720 BE or the 945 95W. Depending on what you want to spend.

Need to upgrade your Video. What size Power Supply do you have?
 
I dont really have a budget at this point. I just want to get an idea of what I can use on my board to get all I can out of it. For now Im really looking for a graphics card I want the best thing I can run for best amount of money.
 
With 450W PSU, I would suggest you get ATI 4770/ 5750 due to their low power consumption.
While for CPU, phenomII x3 720 or Phenom II 945 95W, depends on your budget.

The best graphic card probably be ATI 5870. However, you will need to upgrade the PSU if you want high end graphic card.
