Minecraft gts 250 low fps

Okay, so I like to play minecraft every once in a while, and I noticed that I'm only getting about 50 fps on my gts 250 and sometimes it drops down to 20. I went to some minecraft wiki and there were benchmarks of minecraft on many different video cards. The gts 250 was getting 50 fps, just like I am and the gtx 260 was getting 200 fps. Why is that happening? Is it because the gts 250 drivers don't "like" minecraft? The gtx 260 sure is a more powerful card, but is it seriolusly that much more powerful? And why is the gts 250 playing minecraft like my hd 4250 in my old laptop?

You probably are just dropping FPS when new chunks load. When it's up around 50, you are more then likely on a chunk that has already been loaded.

If you really care about FPS, install the optifine mod.

Dude, with my PC (in sig) I get lag in mine craft(Not always, sometimes). But I got a lot of modes and use different textures. I thought mine craft was CPU dependent, which is only optimized to use one core. When my CPU is at stock, mine craft lags, when I bump it up to 4.5, it don't.

Something is up there, you should be getting a very high steady FPS. With my GTX 260 and i3 2100, I got over 100 FPS using a HD Texture pack. Unless you are using a Shader mod, it should be getting a huge FPS, like 300 FPS+ with a HD texture. Anyways, OP, it sounds pretty good to me. My GT 240 got similar rates, and the GTS 250 and GT 240 are reasonably similar.

So it is normal that I'm getting 50fps on a gts 250?

Well I have just ordered a gtx 480 so hopefully this will solve my problems, and if not then minecraft is more demanding than crysis 2 :P
