Minecraft open gl error

so... i go to play minecraft on my new old pc. here are my video specs:

Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS

it has about 800 something mb of video memory.


So... minecraft does this flashy thing about 2 minutes after i start playing and this pops up

then this:

It looks like you have a bad video card from the looks of the screenshots.

it only does it when the messages are shown.

It is your video card. It look like you need new video card like 520 GT or 240 GT. 8400 GT is really old video card.

Do you always have all that artifacting on your screen? (i.e. those squigilly lines going accross it). If not, it looks like a driver bug and you can try updating it (or try for a version that came out closer to when your card was released), but if you always have them then it's a video card problem and as others have said yours appears to be failing.

try this i made it myself


make a new document in notepad
paste this into the document


java -Xmx800m -jar "C:\Documents and Settings\YOURNAMEHERE\Desktop\Minecraft.jar

then click save as save it as something like minecraft then select all programs from the dropdown list and save it as minecraft.bat

I have a some what similar problem. Also getting those error messages.
Check out the post I made on this forum on what I already tried that didn't work.

UPDATE:
I went to a repair guy, tested another Videocard and it all worked.
I'm not saying you should buy a new card, tho.

Try disabling OpenGL in minecraft and test it again.
