Minimal budget build

To explain the title, I'm looking to build a computer for my mother/brother. Focus would be on a snappy computer that can run basic games like unreal tournament and handle word processing, navigation, facebook...etc. Possibly other modern games as he grows up. They don't need a powerhouse PC, but something nicer than this 5 year old sluggish dell :P

I have basic knowledge and can build things on my own but I'm not current. I have trouble figuring out compatibility issues (ATX, ram vs mobo, videocard size...etc). What's your opinion on the following items. Please note I only need these things, as we will reuse certain things like keyboard, screen, hard drive...etc.

Must fit in this case:
Case: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=29812&vpn=THREE HUNDRED&manufacture=Antec

Motherboard: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=30765&vpn=P5KPL-CM&manufacture=ASUS

Processor: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=27784&vpn=BX80570E8400&manufacture=Intel ~~~~OR~~~ http://ncix.com/products/?sku=22211&vpn=BX80562Q6600&manufacture=Intel

RAM: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=24314&vpn=VS2GB667D2&manufacture=Corsair

Power supply: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=29136&vpn=RS-460-PMSR-A3&manufacture=COOLERMASTER

Video card: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=35551&vpn=EN9600GT SILENT/HTDI/512M&manufacture=ASUS

If you have a better suggestion for anything, please use this site to find the product. http://ncix.com/

Thing I'm not really sure about, motherboard mainly. Will a quad core work in this mobo? It advertises that it does, but I don't see it in the compatibility section. Also, will that power supply fit in the motherboard, (20 pin vs 24 pin?). I have a feeling I will need a different power supply for the video card, or at least an adapter of some sort.

Thank you for your time.

ATM, if you plan on wanting to upgrade go for amd:
CPU:
Triple Core: http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=36296&vpn=HDX710WFGIBOX&manufacture=AMD
Quad Core:http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=36294&vpn=HDX810WFGIBOX&manufacture=AMD

Mobo:

or

GPU:

Would recommend going with a better psu, that one there is sorta an offbrand, and lets face it, the psu is the LAST thing you want failing as it can take out multiple components if it fails:

Would recommend this memory, two x 1gb sticks would run in dual channel:

The first motherboard you suggested, does that allow dual channel ram?

Also, what's the difference between those two motherboards?

Yea I wasn't too sure about the power supply. I use that exact power supply in my current PC (stealth) and it's great. At least I know it's reliable.

Both allow dual channel memory, the second one is just a better model with more features/etc. ATX over microatx, more sata slots, better onboard sound, etc..
