Mirror laptop to TV?

I don't mean "cast" I mean mirror. I want to see my desktop on my TV screen.

I've heard of things like:
-miracast
-chromecast

What is the best one to get? The goal is the mirror ANY device (phone, laptop or ipad) to my TV.

Isn't that the definition of cast?

If you're on the same wireless network a Chromecast can do most of that, although I'm not sure if the desktop support is only limited to casting individual tabs out of Chrome. Our chromecast has been sitting in a box for a good 2-3 years

The word "cast" to me is like casting a youtube video to your tv using the little cast icon on the upper right corner.

I want to be able to see my desktop on my tv all the time...wirelessly. And yes, they will be on the same network.

Any ideas?

After some research, I think I'm going to go with Actiontec Screenbeam mini2 because of the dual bandwidth (2.4GHz or 5GHz) support.

Still open for suggestions...

You can cast your entire desktop with Chome and a Chromecast.
