Missing device driver for Vista to install Vista

Just installed a new hard drive. Trying to install Vista i come to screen that says select driver but its empty. Where can i get this driver from all i have is the OS Vista disk. I have a Gateway Laptop Model M-6823
 
You shouldn't need to select a driver to install Vista to your laptop's drives. Don't click the "Load Driver" button. Do you see a drive in the list before the screen you mentioned?
 
Well with Vista, pretty sure you can just burn them to a cd and it will work. If you have two drives just pop it in the other drive and direct it to it. If not, pop the Vista cd out and put the driver cd in, after it copies them it will ask to put the Vista cd back in to finish the install.

Odd that Vista wouldn't support this model though. It even supports some of my SATA RAID arrays on first install.

He is referring to the old school 3.5" floppies. For Vista though, you won't need a floppy like you used to with XP. Vista can read off of a USB flash drive or even a CD or external drive. If you do need this driver, just download it to a USB flash drive and plug that drive into your laptop during install. Then when you go to the load driver page, navigate to the flash drive to select the appropriate driver.
