Missing HD Space

I have just format my hard disk and it says that I have 127 Gb total hard disk space. But it's a 250 Gb hard drive. So I have 120 Gb or so unallocated disk space.
When I open the computer manager I can see no unallocated disk space.
When I try to reformat my computer I see no unallocated disk space.
In all the ways I've tried it just says that I have a total disk size of 127 Gb with no unallocated disk space. All but when I've used a boot CD with killdisk where I could see the rest of the disk space as unallocated.

It has worked fine until I formated it but I haven't been able to find a way to use the unallocated disk space since.

It's an Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 if it's of any intrest.

Have you already scanned for file corruption? To scan, go to "My Computer" >> Right-click on your hard drive >> Click on "Properties" >> Click on "Check Now..." in "Error Checking". It might say that you can only run the process when Windows restarts, so confirm the check when it restarts and restart your computer.
 
Sounds either one of these problems...

Your motherboard does not support hard drives larger than 128gb and/or you are running Windows XP Pre SP1 and you need to partition the hard drive or install SP2 or above to get full advantage of the hard drive.
 
Thank you for your replys, I found TestDisk that manage to find the missing disk space. But now my problem is that it's 2 partitions, and I'd like them as one. Do someone know a good free program to make 2 partitions 1?

its because windows xp doesnt support over 127gb unless u have service pack 2 or 3, i cant remember. but that is your problem, ur hd is fine
 
Yeah, my HD is fine. I have got the missing HD space thanks to TestDisk. But my trouble now is to get the until recently missing part to be the same partition as the old one. And I have service pack 2 or something now, and have another 250 GB HD that works fine and an 1 TB USB working fine aswell.

So for now I need a program that can melt the partitions to one. And I don't want to spend money on one if it's all possible :-).
 
Partition Magic, you can get an older version off ebay for considerably cheaper than the stores, and it does the job just fine.
