Hi,

I have Widowns ME and I had a virus recently, which I think was removed successfully by Norton. My system appears to be running fine (?), however when I go to My Computer and then Local Disk (C:) there is no Windows folder anymore, which makes it impossible for me to access the files it contains. HELP!!!

Andrew :)

how is your computer running without the windows folder... I didint think that was Possible since it contains all the important data to your computer such as the sys32 folder... but correct me if Im wrong make sure..

It appears only to be the Windows linking icon that has dissapeared. The system is obviously still working, I just cant get into the folder for it. I have checked the hidden folders and its not there either (??????)

That is weird... ... Try Searching for it using Search...

open an IE window, and type in C:\Windows and that shouuuld pull it up. if you use FF, than type in file://C:\Windows

and that works with all browsers, since all modern browsers that I know of support the file:// protocall

Thanks for the help. I was able to create a short cut in My Computer to c:\windows, and that now brings it up. Yet it remains something of a mistery where the original WINDOWS folder is now hidden? (When I try to create a folder of that name, I'm prompted that the folder already exists - even though its not there!). V-strange
