I Reset my window xp home edition running system after a serious virus problem which shut my pc down. But me being me i didn't format the hard drive before putting it on again so i have the old system and the new one. The old one is not full and the new one does work but when I boot the pc i get 2 choice of which system to run the old or the new the new works fine and the old is empty. Can i delete this? Also all my program files and settings remain from the old running system can i get rid f these or will i have to re buy windows and reset it again? Many thanks in advance Chris

Format

Just insert the XP cd and boot up from cd....go through the motions and when it asks, format the drive. I may not remember exactly, but you will get to a screen that shows your partitions. Delete ALL partitions and then create ONE. Then, go to INSTALL XP on this partition or whatever else it says, and then choose to format as NTFS (but NOTTTT the one that says "quick" beside it) The cd will format ur drive, and do a clean install. By the way, when you do a format, ALL files will be erased; thats what a format does.

before you re format everything you may want to look at this is you want to save some of your old data
