It will not hurt it, but you cannot run in dual channel mode, and if stick A and stick B have compatibility issues between them, it won't work at all. However, it should not harm your system granted you take all the safety precautions of installing RAM. Like proper grounding and ESD safety and such.
If they are different speeds and they do work together you will run at the lowest speed regardless.

Try it and find out, it is pretty obvious if you have issues. You will get memory dumps, blue screens, boot issues, etc. It may not even POST if it is 100% incompatible, but the only way to know is to try it.
While, the chances of having data loss occur may be slim, always back up data that is crucial before doing such things.
As long as the timings match it should be okay. Bear in mind if a few sticks are DDR400 and one stick is DDR333, they will all run at DDR333 by default
