mixing raid/controller cards

i have two controller cards, one is for sata and the other for pata. can i use both in the same machine.
one is a rosewill, the other is a promise card i think.
im planning to add them in a freenas box.

Yes you should be fine using both in the same machine. If you plan on booting from one of them it'll take a little more configuration but should be doable.
