MO Disk problem

my mo disk drive keeps trying to spin up but it will stop before it hits full speed. it will only work if you have both usb power and external power connected to the same power supply. i tried to connect it to a transformer but it didnt work.

MO Disk? I'm a bit confused by you stating you have USB and external power to the same power supply... However, the general problem sounds pretty normal...

External drives are nothing but internal drives placed in a small case. Assuming this drive is beyond warranty, you may attempt to open it up and connect it within a computer. If it's fairly new (a say less than 5 years old) it will probably be SATA. From your description, I feel it's a 2.5" drive, but even a 3.5" drive would be even better If you have a spare desktop, pop it inside as a slave drive and see if it's any more accessible.

I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but the drive most likely died. There's still a chance the enclosure/circuitry gave out, but hard drives aren't the most reliable hardware around either...
