MOBO and 4 gig ram?

i was told that getting 4 gig of ram was incompatible ?

Asus P5K 775, CORE2EE, P35Chipset,

is this true? because i don't really want 2x 512mb sticks

It's compatible but if you use a 32bit OS your computer will only be able to use 3GB or so.
