Hey,
I have an ASUS A8N-SLI SE - had it for about a year now, and yesterday when I booted up I noticed the computer was making strange whirring noises. It turned out to be the chipset fan, which sounds like it's ripping itself to pieces.
It's still cooling just fine - it just makes a HORRIBLE noise. However, sometimes I load it up, and it runs at its usual, quiet level.
My dad said he thought the bearings were ground down, and it's the shaking making the noise. Any advances on this? Do I need a new mobo fan? If so, where can I get one, and are they easy to install?
Thanks.
