Mobo reads fan as 0RPM, but it's running

I have 3x 3 prong plugs for fans, 1x for the cpu, 1 for intake and 1x for exhaust.. the cpu fan reads good, around 1800RPM, but the intake fan I just installed (also a 3 prong, with three wires so it has the fan control) runs but the mobo and PC Wizard both say it's running at 0RPM.

It's clearly running about as fast as the cpu fan.

Can someone shine some light on this? I have the mobo set to 'auto fan control' I believe it's called

Just double checking, but you did plug the 3-pin plug into the motherboard, correct? If you did I cant see why it's not working..

Try connecting it to a different connector on the motherboard.
 
I plugged it into the 3 pin on the motherboard, yes.. I tried the other port as well (exhaust) and the same thing happened, it reads zero in bios.
 
Another thing I noticed is that the exhaust fan plug (3pin, on the motherboard) only allows the fan to run at low speed, where-as the intake 3pin plug on the motherboard has it at what appears to be full speed.

EDIT: Now I tried the other plug again (Exhaust) and it shows the fan at 1844RPM..

The sensors doesn't always work on some boards. I have one with a bad CPU fan sensor. It's not much of a big deal though.
 
That wouldn't bother me so much if I could explain why the intake blows at full speed, but the exhaust runs at the same speed as the cpu fan.
 
On my Asus board, i have 5 ports to plug fan into, but only three of them can be monitored. Maybe you have the same situation? If you can, try a different plug on the board.

I figured out that the mobo has 3x 3 pin fan plugs, 2 of which can be monitored.

CPU Fan - Monitored
SYS Fan - Monitored (Exhaust)
PWR Fan - Not-Monitored (Intake)

I'm now curious why they call the intake fan 'PWR Fan'..
