mobo replacement

I've just replaced my motherboard, and on booting from my system disc, it didn't recognise my hard drive. Found I'd connected wrongly, fixed that up, but my BIOS indicates it doesn't recognise any hard drive, floppy, cd rom or dvd drive. I've tried manually setting the primary/secondary/master/slave settings, then when that made no difference, reset to default. No difference, other than the cd rom "table" no longer presents, although all power led's work. What next ?

IDE !
However I momentarily removed the CMOS battery, and removed and reconfigured my IDE cables, and all drives are working except for my floppy, which is still not recognised. Also my speakers are not working. (different problem ? ) I'm still working on it.
