MoBo switches off

Hi.

Brand new Mobo, new CPU (socket A), new PSU (450W), new HDD, RAM (not new). Everything on this new MoBo and when I switch it on, after 2 seconds, everything switches off. Any ideas?

Basically the story with this PC is - This is an old PC with fault. I couldnt find the what is the problem with it. So now I have replaced everything inside of it and it still doesnt work.

First thing that came to my mind... Are you 100% sure the mobo is compatable with Semprons. I don't work much with SocketA semprons, so I don't know their compatability and such...

Another thought...my old Abit would do something similar if the processor fan wasn't spinning or wasn't connected to the correct header...

Um...there are a good number of things it could also be... You said you replaced everything...does this include the power supply as well?

the only way to find out wat part is failing is to try them all in another comp,,,,,,,, normally the mobo will give a beep code to tell you if anything isnt connected properly. but from the sound of it something is very wrong..... do u have means to try each component?
if not send all the parts back from where you brought them explain you want replacements as your not happy!
ill have a fiver on the PSU

Actually,it switces off after half a second and the only thing I can see happening is CPU fan is working less than a second (nothing else is happening)
Mobo is Sempron compatible, cause it says on the box. i've tried 2 brand new PSUs now. No difference. Basically I've got 2 sets of parts for this PC, but it wont work. And MoBo even doesnt get to POST to give any beeps. CPU fan is connected to right place aswell.

there isnt even any beeping? are you sure everything is connected? all the fan wires are connected? the 12volt rail? is the motherboard properly placed off of the case sidewall? it could be the power cable also, if its old.

Hi everyone.

I finally found out whats the problem.
Because it is really difficult to connect heatsink properly onto the motherboard, I just seated it onto the CPU. It seems that CPU didnt like to work without the pressure of heatsink, so as soon as I connected the heatsink properly onto the mobo, it worked.
So much trouble... :)
Thanks everyone,

Kirret
