mobo with ata ?

well on newegg im looking at sli mobos and see only a couple with ata support, what exactly is this used for (harddrives i think)but wouldnt pci-e do the job or does it depend on the setup

ATA is for hard drives, as you said. PCI-E is for something totally different, its a different interface entirely. PCI-E is for graphics cards
