Modding a 360

Well i have been working on a few new mods and am almost done with the 360...

Almost done need to shape the plexi and waiting on the LEDs. Let me know what you all think.

Looks nice!

I personally think the grey drive spoils it though that you can see through the window....couldnt you take off the stickers from the top of the drive and spray it?

Id probably do it white to match the duct thing for the cooling :)

When my warranty is up in a year I'm gonna just get one of the "pre-made" case replacements.

That looks really nice. Did you swap out parts/better thermal paste etc or is it purely cosmetic? Looks sweet!

Haha, the kid in pic 2 is so bored since his xbox is temporarily out of commission :P

Just a note...if your gonna add LED's or fans to help with cooling, get them their own power supply(such as here), as there have been reports of people being banned for "modchips" for something as simple as better fans, as it alters the voltages due to drawing more power, which ms sees as a modchip.

I use this: http://www.amazon.com/Whisper-Fan-360-Green-Xbox/dp/B000I93SGQ
And haven't encountered a problem. They replace the current stock fan, more quiet, and push more air.

I'll have to find a link, but it was on a few major sites like [h]ocp awhile back where people were getting banned for fans like that, not sure if microsoft ever fixed it though.

This is off that page.
* DC Power: 12V (at 5v)- Original Fan: 12V (at 5v)
* Current: 160mA - Original Fan: 250mA
* Speed: 4100RPM - Original Fan: 4600RPM
* Air flow: 46CFM - Original Fan: 29CFM
* Loudness: 38d(B)a - Original Fan: 41d(B)a

Yeah, im guessing they probably modified alot of the aftermarket fans to not draw more current. I was talking more about the idea of adding LED's to the case anyhow(although, depending on current draw of the led's, @ 20ma/each you could still add a couple with that aftermarket fan).

On one of my other 360s, I had attached 2 6in cathodes to the main power source on the board by soldering, looked great.

The 360 actually had the RROD, so i started the mod, after a while of deciding that i wanted it working i did a RROD fix, replaced heatsink clamps and new thermal paste.

As far as the draw from the systems power supply i too have heard about the banning, i am going to tool my own power supply to attach to the 360s. So that when you plug it in, you will have two plugs. Seeming like one power supply with two plugs but in essence being two individual supplys.

controversial, shall i be devils advocate and raise the issue of microsoft kicking members off with modded consoles? having said that, i still would :)

I dont think anyone here is strongly opposed to microsoft banning modchips. I think its the right thing to do (since it cuts down on piracy). Its just kind of unfortunate that they sometimes mistake casemods for modchips and ban legitimate users. I dont know how often that happens, to be honest i hadn't heard about it until a few posts ago.

Just wanted to thank everyone for there comments on the xbox. I will post more pictures as soon as i get more progress done on it. :D

ive not heard of this banning for the voltage difference as far as i know there is not actually existing mod chip that will allow you to do anything special.

i have a buddy who has been running a highly modified 360 for ever now and not had one problem.

and fatality, have you looked into changing the heatsink, i know you can get some server style heatsinks that fit, and some of them look pretty sweeet
