Modem help.

I bought a new pc and a modem but then I found out a get a router free with vista. I do have another pc in the house where I can use the router. I'm into computer gaming so I wanna know which I should use. The 2 choices are:

Motorola SB5120 Cable Modem:
38 Mbps Downstream
30 Mbps Upstream

D-link GamerLounge 108g Gaming Router:
Up to 108 mbps

I don't understand which one will provide a faster and more reliable internet connection. Help me plz

well, if you're playing games online you're not going to be able to go any faster because you got a different modem. The speed of your internet connection is determined strictly by the ISP you have. If you're playing Lan games wirelessly the gaming router probably wouldn't be too bad although i never really recommend wireless for gaming simply because it's less reliable. If wired is an option you could plug your cable modem into say a 16 port switch or something and plug all of your other computers into that.

I was thinking BOTH were necessary... I must be missing something here, maybe it's the Nyquil I just took.
