Modem/ISP question.

Howdy!

For about a year or 2 now, i've had Qwest FiOS, they switched over to Century Link (Aside from the hiccups in service and bad customer support that was traditional to Qwest, everything has been fine.)

After a power outage, my modem has been acting very strange, and we called the ISP (Century Link) and they said our upload was normal but we were only getting about 40-60% of our download speed, however; It is convienent that the modem at a constant constantly loses it's 'DSL' and 'Internet' lights (along with the services themselves) but not the power light, it continues to do this between random 5 minute to an upwards of 10 minute intervals, and stays out for between 1 to 5 minutes.

Ontop of all of this, our download speed fluctuates, it goes from about 650 to around 980 (We're paying for 1563.)

So, my question is. Could it be the modem? I was heavily speculating the modem might have been damaged by a surge, or is our ISP just gipping us?

Many thanks!

-Chad

Additional info: The modem is an Actiontec PK5000.

Have your isp replace the modem. The power outage could have partially damaged it through a power surge.
