modem problem

hi, i have a dell inspiron 1501 running vindows vista and it has a weird modem problem. when i recive a call on my landline the dialup modem on my laptop automaticly answers the call after 2 rings and starts making dialing noises. i have tried turning off the modem volume and that didnt work. the driver is supposidly up-to-date. so im out of idears so could someone help me please.

You cannot recieve an call when you have dial-up. You modem will try to keep on maintaining the connection as long as possible. Modems are loud, on some there quieter...
 
Ah.. Well I know that on 98 I think you can install an like "auto answer" or something of the sort, which lets you answer from your computer I think... Might've installed it by accident?
