I have my laptop connected to a Netgear modem/wireless router. I am receiving the internet at a reasonable speed and then it goes to a crawl. (I suspect contention ration)
The ISP say that I should set my Netgear modem encapsulation to pppoe, it will not work on this setting, only on pppoA. Netgear wants me to to a complete factory reset, but I had so much trouble setting up to my laptop and printer I do not want to do this and cannot see the point when all other settings are correct to Netgear requirements. The ISP has not responded. Can anyone please explain if this matters.
