i recently got charter "high speed" internet. a couple times a day my internet is either off completely or its very very slow. a friend of mine had the same problem with a different company and he purchased another modem to see if this would help and he says it did. before i take my friends words i wanted to check with the experts. would buying a new modem help me? or is it my crappy service??

Ok, so you have a cable modem (from the looks of your speed test) Most likely the speeds are fine. that is in the range of a normal cable line. However i don't think it is your modem.

Just some extra questions, have you tried more then one computer on it? Since it is cable, is there a lot of static on the TV? last, is there a time pattern when this happens?

it has happen all times of the day when on the internet. it cuts out and then comes on good after about 30 sec or so. but yes in the evening it always is like this. you cant even check your email unless you have about 20 min to waste. could this be like a peak time thing where too many people are using it causing it to cut out like this. this was the thought in the back of my head and the reason i came on here for help before getting a new modem. should i just check to get another internet or call them and see if they can tell me whats up?

I would say it is just peak time. I could be wrong, but i never had a modem go bad (not saying they can just saying it is unlikely)

yea im pretty sure its peak time cause friends of mine around here are having the same problem. is there anything i can do about that? or is my option to switch companies? this is the only cable internet company i know of in my area. what other types of internet are fast? i want speed.lol

You can get DSL from the phone company. If they laid fiber in your area then the speeds should be good. But talk to them about what you have in your area.

I feel your pain dude. I have charter too and it sucks. Too overpriced for too little a speed.
