ok, this is seriously ********* me off now, a continuous high pitched (barely audible) screech is being emmited from my screen. Its a LG StudioWorks 775 SE 17" CRT. I currently run at 1280x960, it cant get to 1280x1024 so.... and at 70Hz ref rate.

This is its maximum, it cant go any hihger on either setting. And this ****** screech, tis constanat, and considering i sit in front of it almost 6 hours a day now its in the school holidays, its bloody annoying.

If i knock it down to 60Hz, the noise is gone, hooray, but it looks crap, its all jerky and its noticable. so back up to 70 it goes, still screeching, i cant live with it at 1024x768, its too small (or big depending on how you look at it), however if i do take it down to 1024x768, the noise is gone.

Please ehlp, is ther anythign else i can lower that wont seriusly affect viewing but will stop this bloody noise.....!!!!!!!!!

Some CRTs just do that over time. I had an old one for a Mac that was just horrible. There's really nothing you could do. Sometimes the brightness of the picture causes the problem, sometimes it's the Hz...it can be lots of things.

Loose flyback transformer inside (DO NOT OPEN THE MONITOR TO TRY TO FIX THIS!), or (seriously) running the monitor outside of its accepted standard settings. Check the specs to see if what you want to run is within spec.
Max: 1280 x 1024 @ 60 Hz
Recommended: 1024 x 768 @ 85 Hz

Okay. I found two LG Studioworks 775's at LG's site, with model numbers CB775C-EA and CB775C-EP. Their manuals both say:

800x600 @ 60, 75, or 85Hz
1024x768 @ 75 or85Hz
1280x1024 @ 60Hz

Those are all your options, as far as I can tell.
