Moniter problem, please help.

The monitor just shrunk or something, how would I fix it, it seems to be doing it a lot today...

I'm not sure on this at all, but it looks like the more than half the monitors back-light has gone out.. is this all the time, or are there times when it works fully? what are you doing if there are times when it's working?

Make that sure, video drivers are updated, resolution and refresh rate are correct. I there is a auto button on the monitor try pushing it.

Well it's really recent like yesterday it was flickering and today it did this... it doesn't it like periodically. Usually I'm on the internet when it works, but just a few minutes ago I was checking my e-mail and it happened again... I had to shut off my monitor and let it sit for a while.
I'm running of resolution of 1280 x 1024, I think my display rate is 60 Hz?

make sure the cable is fully in and there is not short. (just wigle the cord when it does that.) also try to demag your screen. go into the menu and look for a magnet with a strip through it

Ok try this; Take a flashlight or a bright light source and shine it onto the black portions of the screen. If you can see what should be there you, you have a burnt out/broken back-light, if it's perfectly black then... hmm i dunno, it could be a bad connection, but that's an awfully weird way of showing it..

Thanks I did demag it and it didn't work , I actually just got an answer from Yahoo Answers and this person said this

It looks as though your video card simply locked up. Do a complete shutdown and restart to clear it.

Depending upon what games I'm playing and how graphics intensive they are, I simply unload everything I don't need (or reboot into a 'clean' user profile) and then plan to reboot when I'm done playing.

I just updated my graphics card, and so far nothing has happened, I think it only happened when I was playing video games
