Monitor - Adding a third?

Hi guys!

I just bought a second monitor for my laptop.


I wanted an extension, because my present laptop screen just didn’t cut it in terms of space, so, now if I mouse over to the right, and have 19 more inches to work with (including the 14” in my laptop).


Anyway, I wanted to know if it’s possible for me to add a third monitor to my set up? If so, how can I go about doing that?


A monitor I can scroll over even further to…


Any help would be great.

there ARE splitters, but your video card needs to be able to support the COMBINED resolution of both monitors being hooked up as a single monitor.....

eg.; 2 1280x1024 monitors hooked up together would be 2560x1024, so your video card would need to support 2560x1024

also, the monitors would affectively be a single monitor, so you wouldn't get the nice benefits of individual monitors, such as being able to maximize a window to the monitor, you'd have to manually stretch windows, etc.

I don't want to stretch my monitors resolution. Presently, I have a second individual monitor that I can run separate applications on (ie. Photoshop, Word etc.).



Is there a way to add a third monitor to this mix?



For example...how I have it set up now is:
- I have my laptop Monitor
- I just bought 19 inch monitor, which I can scroll over to and put other apps on, like Photoshop, Word etc.


Anyway, any guidance would be great!

Anything is possible. Its just how you want to attack this.

Ive never seen one, but you could get a pcmcia graphics card, but thats if you dont already have a pcmcia card.

Another solution is software wise. You could buy a second computer and network the laptop and the computer together. Then a quick google can bring up some software that allows your laptop to use the computers monitor like a third, and then you can just buy more pci card for more monitors.

And as someone else said, there is a vga divider, there are acctualy vga tripplers also.

Weird idea, take a peice of paper and stick it down the middle of the 19 inch, making two 8 inch monitors.... :P

If you ask me though its pointless, exspencive, power hungry, and will be very laggy. Just stick with two monitors.

Aye. You could do any of the things kobaj said, but at that point is would make more sense to get one BIG ass monitor and just use that. What do you need so much space for anyway?
