Monitor as HDTV?

I need a small HDTV. Can I buy a monitor and hook it up to direct tv? Will it work as a HDTV?

Depends on what output your direct tv box has and what inputs your monitor has. If the satellite box outputs in HDMI then you should be able to get an HDMI > DVI adapter. If your satellite box outputs in coaxial then you're in trouble.
