Monitor Displaying Symbols instead of Text

I have a Windows 7 64bit OS running on an HP Desktop PC.

After I did a Windows update and rebooted, the monitor is displaying symbols instead of readable text (like triangles, smiley faces, squares, etc....)

I am at the point where I tried reinstalling Windows 7 back onto the hard drive, but the Windows 7 disk said I couldn't install Windows 7 onto the hard drive. I tried deleting any partitions first then installing and still it tells me that I can't install Windows 7 into the hard drive.

Is the hard drive bad:confused:

Can you post pics? Usually this is a video card or memory issue. What exactly were the messages it was telling you that it couldn't install windows?

It's working now

I had to remove/unplug all the dynamic disk for Windows to install.

I also switched out hard drives. Not sure if that did it as well but it's working now.

thanks:good:

weird......
