Monitor flashes down on start

Hi
Im hoping someone can help me with my problem. When i start windows and it is booting up, the screen will not stay still. It continualy flashes down repeatedley and you cant see anything clearley. Ive had the computer for a year now and i have put up with this problem because once in windows xp pro the problem stops and the screen stays still. The only problem now is that my pc has been re-formatted and once you get in to the operating system start up, the screen continous to flash down the screen constantley. I cant really describe the effect but its the same as the old movies where the film comes down the screen onto the next slide.

I use my 32 inch lcd tele as a monitor, and it is connected to my computer via a vga cable, which then goes into a dvi adapter and then in to the back of my graphics card.

I would be very grateful for everyones comments as i cant get in 2 windows!

Try cleaning the cable connectors for dust or maybe replace the cable?

What graphics card have you got btw and how old is it?

Its a 8600 gt. Ive managed to solve the problem, i used my brothers monitor and it worked fine. I reckon its the cable because my tele is a year old so its not going to be that thats playing up. Thanks alot for your help.
