Dual HP w1907 19" widescreen LCD monitors

I use the program Ultramon for my 2 monitors and don't think my problem has anything to do with that but thought I would state it. Recently one of my monitors will flash to a black screen every now and then. It acts like it is losing signal but comes right back on. Sometimes it will just flash once or twice and sometimes it will continue to flash until I close the window that is up. It is always the same monitor and I have never had any problems out of the other one. I have switched the DVI cables around and still get the same thing on the same monitor. But whenever I play games, I always play on the same monitor (the one that is acting up) and it never goes blank. Both monitors are less than a year old, so I am hoping it isn't the monitor slowly dieing. Any ideas? Thanks

Instead of swapping the cables, swap the monitors.

Example: if you normally play games on Monitor A and it blinks out, put Monitor B on that cable and play games, and see what happens.

If Monitor B blinks out, then I suspect a video adapter problem. No blinking? Monitor A is on the fritz.

frunkiss,

I am having the exact same problem:

Running dual monitors with ultramon on a dual DVI video card (radeon 4870 hd).

One monitor flashes randomly.. it seems loosely correlated to my usage of it, I dont open windows in it it's fine, but once i start doing some stuff it will randomly flash anywhere from just once to getting locked in this constant flash where i gotta drag the window to the other monitor to make it stop.

I swapped the DVI cables on the video card and the same monitor has the problem => so I think it must be the monitor and not the video card.

also jimmy norton ftw.
