Monitor help please.

Just got a new monitor, went from standard 4:3 to widescreen 16:9.

Now my problem is when i hooked up the new widescreen monitor it just goes to input not supported after booting up, but i hear windows and everything going on so i know computer is working. My 3d card is a 7800 GT so i know it supports the 1440 x 900 resolution ...

So what do i have to do to make this damn thing work =/

please reply asap i would like to get this working tonight.
 
Boot to safe mode or VGA mode using F8 after POST then set the resolution to something the monitor can handle and reset. I do beleive that'll get it working again.
 
ok i booted up in safe mode and the computer is on :D

now another problem .... how do i set it to 1440 x 900? lol yea kinda nooby, especialy since i seen the seting SOMEWHERE.

I went to properties or what ever and all that comes up is resolutions for standard monitors ...

right click on the desktop and go to properties

then click on the settings tab and then move the slider thats under Screen Resoultion to right until you see 1440X900
