monitor not being recognized

hey guys, this is my first post:o , and i have a question

i recently tried fixing up an old compaq evo w4000...it was stripped with no ram, so it only accepts pc133, but i put in pc100 to try it....i kno that u can use pc133 in a pc100 slot or mixed, but i decided to try this...well, i plugged in my monitor and i get a no sync, no preset, 00.00khz, etc, this was on a dual output gpu, so i was getting quite mad, lol, i switched a new gpu in [single output, 4x agp] and still the same problem persists. i have used 3! monitors, and nothing, but the wierd thing is i have 3 of the same computers that were stripped...ANYWAYS, my question is, how do i get the monitor to recognize my computer...thanks alot guys
 
Are you able to boot to bios? or is it not even getting that far? Also does this old compaq have a onboard card built in? Try disabling that before switching over to the new one.
 
I am having the same problem with two of my computers. Different Video cards (PCI-e and PCI) and onboard video. Monitor still says no input detected. Still struggling with it though.
 
I am having the same exact thing. COmputer looks like its booting up fine, no issues, but no video. yet no beeps. Try removing everything from your PCI/PCI-e slots. Then use your onboard video. Try, only leaving your video card in. Try resetting your cmos. I do know that overcloking your cpu too much can result in your video card issue. It can also be a power issue. All this is things that i have learned to try. but nothing works for me so far. I am about to give up and throw in the towel.
 
well, im not having wat your describing, but like i press the power button on my comp and then all of a sudden a message appears on the monitor as if i didnt even plug the computer in, in the first place, it just says no preset, no sync, oo.ookhz, etc. i really need to fix this problem soon. so if u can help me i'd appreaciate it, heres my AIM SN: shagadelicman613
