monitor not compatable?

hey guys one of my monitors just died a few weeks ago....and i need some files from my desktop so i plugged in an older LCD flatpanel to my new desktop and it says mode not supported...does anyone know the reason? and how can i make it so the computer supports the mode?
 
First you would have to remember what refresh rate and resolution the other monitor was set at. If that was up to 75-85htz you would have to see that lowered down for the older model and then try locating the driver if needed for it. You will probably have to borrow one if needed in order to see those lowered down enough.
 
The idea is to try a different monitor to see if you can lower the refresh rate and resolution down in order to see if your older monitor will then work if it's still good. Aooarently with the newer models you cranked everything above what the old one can support in that regard.
