Because the distance between me and the 4K monitor is 5x smaller than the distance there was between me and my 1080p TV.

Kinda hard to say there's no difference when you're drastically changing relevant variables....

Well I use that TV for my secondary rig and I don't see much of a difference in image quality because of the massive distance difference. When I try to stay close to the TV, the image does seem pixelated, but from the distance I stay to it, the image looks ok.
