Monitor Problem after Reformat

Hey Everyone,

Let me start out by saying I am very inexperienced when it comes to computers, and my problem involves a pretty old computer.

Anyways my mom has an emachines T1120 desktop, all original except for the monitor which went out a few years ago. Her current monitor is a Packard Bell 1024s.

She had some serious spyware/virus problems so I decided to reformat the computer and start fresh. I used the original restore disks that came with the computer and followed the directions. Everything went well until windows started. The emachines logo would come on, the Windows is loading page would come up but as soon as you would get to the start page the monitor would go crazy and make it impossible to see anything. I can still hear the song playing so the reformat went fine, but I cant see anything.

The monitor worked fine before the reformat. I am really in some desperate need of help. Any and all suggestions will be tried!

Have you installed your Graphics card drivers or Intergrated chipset drivers?

When you format a pc,Usualy you have to install the Motherboard chipset drivers,Graphics card drivers and sound for it to all work properly.
 
I would suggest booting into safe mode if you can and checking the drivers for the graphics card, the only other thing that springs to mind is that the resolution that the computer has defaulted too is not supported by your monitor, the older machines dont tend to autodetect the resolution like the new ones.

I tried a fresh reformat last night but still have the same issue.

I tried to boot in safe mode but get an error that says "System not fully installed please run setup again" I think its because I can't get past the Microsoft setup/registration page since I cant see what its says...

The restore disk says it contains all the necessary software? Do I still need to install drivers separately?

Is there anyway to complete the initial Microsoft registration without seeing it? What do I need to push?
