Monitor Problem

My monitor was doing this thing in the morning when it would flicker and i would turn it on and off for awhile and it would work for the day but yesterday it stoped working entirely does anyone know what could be wrong?

I made sure that all my cables where connected and none of them are damaged because the monitor i am on now is working fine so it must be the monitor....?
 
Its a Gateway 18-inch LCD Flat Panel Display

I wanna say its the light inside becuase the screen flickering is much like the flickering of a lightbulb about to go out
