Monitor Problem

My PC boots up just fine but my monitor never works. Instead it turns on for about 5 seconds and then the thing goes yellow as if its asleep or something. Its very weird because I've tried 2 different monitors here at home with it and the same results, but when I brought it over to my friends house it worked fine. Any ideas?

Bad power cable. Bad wall connection. Try a few new cables and a new wall outlet. If you get it to come on, wiggle the cables every way imaginable. IF at any time it turns off, you have a short.

When you switched houses/outlets though, you said it worked fine. Try using a different outlet, possibly on a different circuit. You can overload the circuit and not blow it, more common in older homes.

I dont think its a power issue because the thing turns on it just seems to go to sleep mode. Anything jump out at you?

check the pins on the monitor cable. You might have a bent pin. Or posibly a pin has been brocken and is shorter than the rest.

I'll check it out

Dont think its that.

Could it be some type of connection issue inside the PC?

When unplugged from the computer, the monitor flashes Check signal cable.

Our guess is as good as yours
Have you tried swapping out your video card like childsy_1985 said? You may have damaged it when moving it from case to case.... I think all of us may have broken one part or two, I know I have. If it's not that then possibly your slot on your Motherboard?

Is your computer an emachines T2825 model? if so I have one.. and my friend has one... they both come on like they want to boot up.. no beeps though.. and it sends no signal to the monitor.. im just going to buy a new computer... i have someone who knows alot more about them trying to fix mine right now..

I have tried three different monitors. I think I am going to take it to a repair guy that actually knows what hes doing.

ehhhh.... you probably got some bad crap goin on in there. You got the reciet for that there monitor of yours? try bangin on the side of it.
