Monitor problem

Hi,

I have switched from a 19" Trinitron to a 21" Trinitron and installed the appropriate driver. It's display of text at POST and the Pre-OS legend in Windows looks fine, but when Windows or Linux is loaded there is multiple ghosts to the right of texts and icons etc...

Any ideas what the solution might be?

Thanks for your interest.

Yes but as Startup indicates it's in proper working cond.

My old monitor was:
Dell Trinitron ULTRASCANP99

Horizontal scan range 30 kHz to 96 kHz
Vertical scan range (Refresh rate) 48 Hz to 120 Hz
Optimal preset resolution 1024 x 768 at 75 Hz or 85 Hz
Highest preset resolution 1600 x 1200 at 75 Hz
Highest capable resolution 1600 x 1200 at 75 Hz

My new Monitor is:

Dell Trinitron P91130
Resolution
Horizontal scan range 30 kHz to 130 kHz (automatic)
Vertical scan range 48 Hz to 170 Hz (automatic)

Optimal preset resolution 1280 x 1024 at 85 Hz
Highest preset resolution 1600 x 1200 at 85 Hz
Highest addressable resolution* 2048 x 1536 at 80 Hz *

Addressable means the monitor will sync up to this mode. However, Dell does not guarantee the image will be sized and centred correctly.

Electrical Video input signals analogue Vpp, positive at 75 ohm Synchronization input signals separate horizontal and vertical; and composite TTL level, positive or negative Sync on Green at 0.3 Vp-p

AC input voltage / frequency / current 100 to 240 VAC / 50 or 60 Hz ± 3 Hz / 1.6 A (RMS) at 120 VAC and 0.9 A (RMS) at 220 VAC

Wait...
installed the appropriate driver? I've never installed drivers for a monitor before. Just let Windows think it was the default Plug and Play monitor. First I'd try removing the drivers and see what that does. Otherwise, the monitor might be borked. You didn't change up anything with the video card/video card drivers?

Problem existed befor i installed the driver with the same name as the monitor

Try to twiddle with the resolution, cable and the refresh rate, if that doesn't help, then your monitor is crap then.
