Monitor Problms...

I've had this monitor laying around for awhile that my brother used to use on his copmuter. It came with a store bought Compaq Pressario (sorry don't know much about the specs on that) but on the monitor itself it says Compaq 7550. It used to work perfectly fine and really isn't that old, maybe 2 - 3 years at the very most. The problem is sizing, no matter how you change the setting on the copmuter, or on the monitor, it is much wider than it should be, and it also curves on the sides like this ) (. I have tried many things to fix it, it doesn't work on his Compaq that it came with, another Compaq I have that is almost the same model and also used a Compaq 7550, and on my copmuter which I built. I even bought a converter to plug it in the DVI output on my video card, ending with the same results.... Any ideas of what could be wrong?

The monitor should have some adjustment for that somewhere. Have you been though all the menus(assuming it has some onscreen menu) If not, some have adjustments inside to correct this, but it's not something the consumer is suppose to mess with.

Yes I've done all the onscreen menus, nothing seems to work. I do know he used to let me cat lay on top of his monitor while he was using it... I would think this would allow a lot of cat hair to get into the monitor which would make it become very hot... Could that be the reason it came to be the way it is?
