It depends on the monitor. But if you want be safe LED is give a pretty uniform lighting on most monitors, but there are exceptions. All can say is don't buy an brands you've never heard of. I think you should go with DVI, as HDMI can slip out of the socket, and DVI does do HDCP movies.

Great but I know there is a way to recorded TV to your PC. Do you not need a TV Tuner to do that?

Edit the LG monitor is also discontinued would that mean it isn't supported anymore?

Well you can get the HD home run http://www.silicondust.com/products/hdhomerun/dvbt/ . It's network device, that lets you watch or record TV on any PC in your house, you just plug in to an ethernet socket. Is this what you're thinking of?

pretty cool but not what I had in mind. In fact I'm not sure how I will record TV. I'll post a thread about it.

The nicer monitors and tvs have the option to allow you to switch between widescreen and letterbox on the fly. If you are watching movies you will want a monitor with low response time, to prevent blurring. Will it be hooked up to pc or bluray?
